Jags Take First Place in Tier II at Memphis Tournament

The de Toledo varsity basketball team really showed their skills and played their hearts out in Memphis. The Jags rolled through Tier II schools: Akiva Hebrew Day School 73-34, Sheck Hillel Community 59-47, and North Shore Hebrew Academy 58-39. Mazal Tov to Head Coach Motti Meisels, Assistant Coach Alvin Castro, and our mighty Jags. Way to go Jags! Team co-captain, Ezra Emmanuel, stated “I think the team this year has a lot of potential and a lot of great guys. In Memphis we got along great and really connected as a unit. I think the guys played great in the tournament and we obviously showed that by winning tier 2 championship.” And co-captain, Etai Bernstein, said that “This weekend as we made our way to Memphis it was obvious that the team was ready to go. Even though we lost our first game, we came together and persevered to win our next 3 in emphatic fashion. The team worked together and enjoyed every moment on and off the court, which was concluded with an unforgettable tier 2 first place finish.” The Jaguar basketball team ended up returning from Memphis with the Cooper Invitational Tier II Championship Title! All the team members played amazing games and were proud to come back with a big win under their belts. Plus they got to show off their new big trophy to the rest of the school!
