Advice for College Bound

The Jag, Staff Writer

Dear Jag,

Do you have any advice about the pressure of getting into a good college? Do you have any ways of getting rid of this pressure? I really want to get into a good college and I know freshman year doesn’t matter as much as the rest, but I still get really worried.

Dear Unclear About Uni,

There can be a lot of pressure to get into the best colleges, especially in our school. Believe me when I tell you, when you’re in your forties and have had a fulfilling career, it will not matter whether or not you went to Yale or started at Pierce College. Even if you want to be a doctor or rocket scientist, it’s okay to start with two years of community college. I would like to encourage you to talk with your college counselor about the journey that’s right for you. The best part about college/university/trade school/the army is that you have the power to make your own choices and be in control.
