Wednesday night, we welcomed in a new era at our school, de Toledo High School. As a student I am so excited to see all of the changes that will come along with our new name. The ceremony, led by leaders of our community, including Board of Trustees President, Jeff Levine, and Head of School, Dr. Bruce Powell, was a beautiful way to honor the de Toledo family and kick off our upcoming school year filled with a new sense of pride and community.  “A New World,” sung by our very own theater seniors and special guest alumni Tal Toker was not only tear provoking, but also perfectly appropriate for the journey this school is about to make. Seeing everyone who showed up eat together afterwards at the barbeque gave me a huge sense of K’hilah. de Toledo is truly a home away from home for all the students, staff, and members of our community. “New Name, Same Soul.” We will always be the loving and open community that New Jew was to so many. And as the school year starts I know it will be hard for all of us to let go of our old school name, but de Toledo will come to bring a community we can call our own.
