Scorching heat , parched mouths and aching feet didn’t stop a community from uniting on October 11, 2015 as thousands of people congregated in West Hollywood to raise money and awareness for HIV and AIDS. The sense of community and teamwork filled the air as everyone completed the 10k walk in intense heat. Aids Walk supervisor Craig Miller stated that, “High temperature did not stop our supporters from turning out in massive numbers and raising more than $2.3 million” The amount of enthusiasm that the walkers showed was overwhelming and it was almost impossible not to smile.
CAKE Club make it their mission to help support this cause. We all believe that participating in events like this can inspire others to fight for what they believe in. There have been many remarkable breakthroughs in HIV and AIDS research throughout the years and it could not have been done without the support and donations of those who participated in this walk. These breakthroughs have allowed people living with the HIV virus and AIDS to live fulfilling lives and to participate in meaningful events like this walk. The impact of this event shows that we can make a difference; we just have to get up and do something important NOW.
