“Dan the Man” Powers the Mets to the World Series

The Cubs came into this series as the favorites, going undefeated against the Mets in seven games against them in the regular season, but the Mets flipped the script this series in a big way. The Mets led by their dominant pitching that only allowed the Cubs to score eight runs the entire series, would usher the Mets to a series sweep of their own. Fun fact: in 1945, the Cubs were cursed by the owner of a billygoat who was told to leave Wrigley Field because the goat was bothering other fans. The name of that billygoat was “Murphy” and Mets second baseman Daniel “Murphy” won the series MVP and was imperative to the Mets win. “Dan the Man” also set a postseason record with six straight home run games.

There is a silver-lining to this series as the Cubs, who even with this heartbreaking loss, have a bright future with young stars such as Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, and Kyle Schwarber who hit a Cubs record five straight homers. The Mets will now advance to their first World Series since 2000, when they lost to the New York Yankees.
