As we found out on November 7, 2020, Kamala Harris was elected to be our vice president, our first-ever female vice president. This is a huge event not only for the U.S. but for women. Since the beginning of history, women have always been looked at differently than men, no matter the circumstances. Women have been told they don’t hold the same kind of power that men hold, and only about 100 years ago were all women granted the right to vote. No matter where you stand politically, having women take part as vice president is a huge milestone for the women in our community. It is spreading the message that women are strong enough, women have just as much power as men, women have the right to be our vice president. Especially for the next generations, this milestone will normalize women having major roles in our nation.
