I’ve never been someone who likes politics. This past election has been the worst and most confusing to me. Most of my friends are Democratic, but my family and some of my closest friends are Republican. I didn’t know until now I had to pick a side. So I decided to not talk about it at all. I would avoid any conversations that had to do with politics. When my family talked about it at dinner, I would focus on my food or start a different conversation with my siblings. When my friends talked about it, I would go on my phone to avoid any controversial opinions.
I have always been a huge feminist. My mom comes from a household with ten girls and one boy. My grandpa made it extremely important that his daughters knew how to stand up for themselves and fight for what they believe. My mom has taught me the same. Whenever my brother or dad say something sexist, even if they don’t realize it, I make sure they know what they said was wrong.
I think a female vice president is an extremely important step for women. Especially since less than a month ago, every woman in America was terrified for her rights.
