JagShack Hits (and Misses)
If you’re having a bad day and need something sweet yet refreshing, the JagShack’s Pineapple Sorbet is for you. The tart taste will convince you that what you’re eating is definitely healthy, and the almost rock-hard, frozen texture will provide such a challenge of scooping that you’ll be too distracted from your disappointment on a math test to cry about it. The sorbet would work perfectly as a post-breakdown snack, especially on a hot day. Despite it’s solid texture, this treat is one of the most unique items the JagShack offers, and is the closest thing you can get to ice cream (that’s not Postmating from our around-the-corner Chick-fil-A).
Though the JagShack has many good food options, the vegan mac and cheese is not one of them. The box alone makes it look extremely unappetizing; it almost makes the mac and cheese look plastic. Then, when you taste it, the texture and and taste are not what you will be expecting. The taste alone stayed in my mouth for the next 30 minutes, and the texture was almost rough. I highly recommend they stop selling this mac and cheese at the JagShack.
Chex mix is the perfect snack to have on a long day. There is a variety of stuff it it, like pretzel crisps, but my favorite is the bread crumbs. They give the perfect crunch when you bite into it. After having Chex mix, you feel satisfied and want more. I would definitely recommend it.
I was nervous to try the JagShack’s mac n cheese because the box didn’t look incredibly appealing. When it comes to mac n cheese, I am very picky and usually don’t like trying new ones. The JagShack’s mac n cheese took three minutes to cook, and when I took the plastic off the container, it was gooey and steaming. I loved the favor, and I would describe it as very chewy and creamy. I only had a few bites, and I enjoyed this mac n cheese a lot. I only disliked how much cheese there was, so if you enjoy that, I would recommend it. I will branch out my mac n cheese options now because this one was delicious.
I tried the spicy pickle that came in a bag with no juice. I would rate it a 4 out of 10. Usually when you imagine a spicy pickle, you would imagine a delicious pickle with a tiny bit of tang, but it was nothing like I imagined. It was not spicy and lacked a ton of flavor. The flavor a pickle should have, it didn’t. It just tasted like water with some chili powder. The cucumber was also a lot smaller than pickling cucumbers should be and is not worth the $1.50 they charge. I would say do not buy or try the spicy Jag pickles, but the regular pickles are highly recommended!!
During my JagShack review, I tried the Zappo chips. They had a very interesting flavour, with a mix of two iconic chip flavours: BBQ and Salt + Vinegar. Personally, I did not love the taste of the chips. After about five chips or so, a weird aftertaste formed in my mouth. Overall, I would rate these chips a 5/10.
All I have to say is that the food was terrible. We started off with a vegan mac & cheese, and that was absolutely terrible–a solid 2 out of 10. However, then we tried something a little bit better. We tried the hot chips and they were a 4 out of 10, but they left a terrible aftertaste. The last thing I tried was the normal mac & cheese. It wasn’t completely hot, but I rated it a 5 out of 10. I would take that over everything I had before.
During almost every bonus I get a craving for something salty, and I always go with “Oh Snap!” pickles. Although they sell multiple varieties such as hottie bites ( which are the spicy version), or dilly whole (which is a whole pickle in a bag), I definitely have a favorite out of all of them. My favorite pickles are the ones pictured above. They come in a convenient package which makes it super easy to snack on them between classes. They are crunchy and super fresh. I love the flavor– they remind me of the pickles they serve you at a deli. The JagShack simply wouldn’t be the same without them.
