Quarantined with Kids
“Stay Home Please!”
Who thought this would ever happen, being stuck in your house for countless days because of a virus?
I’m sure by now everyone around the world has heard of the COVID-19 virus: it affects your respiratory system, resulting in a fever and nasty cough. Yeah, I know, it does not sound like fun.
What’s even worse is that it has spread to every state in the U.S; everyone is being forced to stay in their houses, and if you have kids, you’re in for a wild ride.
Today I’ll give you some tips and tricks to keep those little monkeys from getting bored, and you from losing your sanity.
I myself have a little brother, and without electronics, none of us would be surviving.
Here are some activities for the kids: make some kitchen chemistry, bake something, build a cardboard (or blanket) fort, go for a walk ( just stay at least six feet away from people), make a movie, design a spaceship out of legos, read some books, have a movie marathon with popcorn.
Older kids ages 9-13 may need a different variety of activities: age-appropriate video games, backyard sports like darts, jewelry making, water fun, and so on.
There are endless activities to fight boredom, and kids have incredible imaginations. If all else fails, screen time is probably best.
I interviewed a family with a one-and-a-half-year old on how quarantine is affecting them: “ Well, we’re all going a little stir crazy, but we’re just trying to keep the baby entertained.”
Seems that’s what a lot of people are trying to do nowadays.
This quarantine has been rough on many of us, but it is going to get worse before it gets better, much much worse. Schools are not expected to open back up until next year, which means the parks will remain closed till summertime, maybe even longer.
We have to get through this together; there is nothing we can do. Except, stay home please. Just stay home–it will help us all get back to normal life.
