It’s really easy to get senioritis during the second semester of senior year. By this point, seniors have already completed most of their important classes, all of their college applications and many are just waiting for graduation day. The excitement of finishing high school can make it hard to stay motivated. A lot of seniors already know what college or future plans they have, so they start to feel like they don’t need to work as hard. It feels like it’s okay to skip a few classes or not turn in a homework assignment.
But the thing is, when you slack off, it’s easy to fall behind. The semester may be shorter, but the work is still important. There are still tests, projects, and finals that can affect your grades. Even though you might have earned some leniency with your grades so far, you can’t forget that you still need to finish the year strong. Missing a few assignments or skipping class might not seem like a big deal in the moment, but it can pile up. By the end of the semester, you might realize that you have a lot more work to do than you thought.
In my opinion, seniors already get enough leeway. We finish the year earlier than everyone else, which is a nice perk. We get to enjoy a break while others are still working through the end of the year. However, that doesn’t mean we should take our final months lightly. It’s important to keep going to class, keep doing our work, and make sure we graduate with good grades. It might feel tempting to relax and let the work slide, but finishing the year strong will feel so much better in the end.
