End the Discrimination of Women and Girls

There are many issues we face on a daily basis, but the biggest issue is the discrimination of women and girls.

Everywhere, there are women who get turned away from jobs and other careers just because they are women. It is not the job they aren’t qualified for, it is the rights they are not “qualified” for. If women are lucky enough to get jobs, they still have to face the injustice of not getting equal pay.

Another huge injustice towards women is a lack of affordable childcare. Laws must change so children can grow up correctly and happily, with childcare mothers can afford. Most women don’t have a strong voice in government, resulting in inadequate and expensive childcare and a failure to address other issues important to women and families.

Also, states and the federal government are restricting access to affordable abortions, which is a major dilemma for many women. Women get raped or become pregnant before they’re ready, so they want to get rid of their baby because it’s their choice. Abortions are expensive and sometimes not available, so women try aborting their babies in other ways, illegally or by themselves, which is very dangerous.

Rape is one of the biggest issues women face in modern-day America. In the workplace, 30 percent of women who have been in a relationship report that they have experienced some form of physical or sexual violence by their partner. In 2016, women service members reported 6,172 cases of sexual assault compared to 6,082 in 2015. Every ninety-eight seconds an American is raped, and on average, there are 321,500 victims of rape or sexual assault each year. Those statistics contain both men and women, but there are definitely more women than men in those categories. There is so much unfairness women face, but women can raise their voices  high and fight for their rights.

However, it truly can’t be done without men, too. We must all unite and bring these issues to everyone’s attention.
