Do you want to help members of our community? The American Red Cross is grappling with a national blood shortage and is in dire need of blood and platelet donations. Due to the various strains of the Covid-19 virus, there has been a rapid cancellation in blood drives, and in turn, hospitals and trauma centers are unable to meet the needs of patients who desperately require blood transfusions for necessary, life-saving medical procedures.  The Red Cross, providing roughly 40% of the nation’s blood supply, says on its website that there is a severe decline in blood donations— some hospitals receiving as little as a day’s supply of vital blood types.

So how can you help? The American Red Cross is urging anyone who meets the requirements to schedule an appointment and donate blood. You can find a blood drive near you by visiting The Red Cross website and reserving your spot.
