The Importance of Dogs During Challenging Times

Dogs are the world’s four-legged fur babies. They are loyal, kind, and smart. Dogs are so amazing, and they can be trained to do many different things like detect seizures and guide the blind.

I have my own dog. His name is Austin, and he is a Yorkie, and I do not know what I would do without my dog. He is my best friend, and he will always see me as nothing other than beautiful.

I am 100% reliant on my dog because he helps me mentally. I know so many people who could not live without their dogs; dogs are mankind’s best friend after all. Dogs are really something special.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking, how do I find the right dog for me? Well, during this devastating time, dogs are scarce, like paper towels. So doing your research on which is the right dog for you and your family is very important. There are so many dogs out there that can fit your lifestyle. If you’re active, get a husky or a golden, that way they can always be active with you. If you’re more of a chill person, getting a lap dog is your best bet like a Shih Tzu or a doodle. If you are kind of in between active and sedentary, then a nice lab or Yorkie should be the perfect dog for you. Of course, you can choose whatever dog you want. Some dogs even match your personality– haha–isn’t that funny?

Of course, having a dog is a big responsibility. It is not like having a cat. Especially if you have a very active dog, they need lots of space and lots of walks. Small dogs are a bit easier to care for, and my dog is also hypoallergenic which means they do not really shed like most dogs with thick fur.

You have to buy them food, toys, a bed, a leash, a collar (and those are just the necessities), but when you have a dog, you will do anything for said dog and I mean anything.  Dogs are lifesavers for so many reasons, too; they save people every day because they are so smart and so loving. Dogs also help anyone that suffers from anxiety because they bring a sense of belonging to their owners and make them feel safe and loved.

I asked god for a friend and he gave me my dog. This story is dedicated to you, my love my Austin-Pawstin love.

Gucci is deciding if he should jump in the pool! (Leah Zagori)

Leah: I have a puppy named Gucci. He is a chocolate chip Pomeranian. He has completely white hair and a brown ear. He is so loving and caring. He thinks he is a very large dog which makes it really funny when he is around really big dogs.  If he thinks I’m ever in danger, he barks and does everything in his power to keep me as safe as possible. He comforts me when I feel sad. Though it may sound weird, Gucci is like a friend that is always there for you and does everything for you.

Gucci was never potty-trained and would always go to the bathroom all over the house, and after several years, my family got tired of cleaning up after him. So they gave him away to a friend. I miss him so much, and it’s not the same without him anymore.  I visit him sometimes and bring him treats and his favorite toys. He still remembers me and is such a loyal little furry friend.

Overall, dogs can and should be a person’s number one choice for a pet. The two most popular pets are cats and dogs, but cats don’t need any human attention, they just need food and a litter box, whereas a dog loves human attention, playing, and even just sitting down with their owner. We hope that our story inspires you to own an animal!
