de Toledo Shel Zahav

By: Sam Levy

A room filled with happy audience members and passionate performers. It can be said that this year’s winterfest was the best yet. The theme, Yerushalayim Shel Zahav (Hebrew for Jerusalem of gold), was reflected beautifully within performances such as Fire, Resolve, and of course Yerushalayim Shel Zahav. There were moments of joy, sadness, and reflection within all numbers. Choir’s version of “New World” was extremely powerful as always, the joy and community expressed on stage was beautiful. It’s so obvious how much hard work and love goes into their each and every one of their performances. There were also performances we will talk about for weeks, such as Hit the Road Jack performed by Jazz Band and To This Day by Varsity Dance Team. Additionally, we were blessed with the dynamic debut performance of “Too Much Exposition” by the cast of Urinetown The Musical, as well as the insanely impressive debut piece “Intensity,” written by our very own Elijah Kneeland and performed by Advanced Jazz.

It was truly a beautiful night, showcasing so many stunning numbers from the de Toledo arts department. I am so proud of every performer, and impressed by all the amazing talent and enthusiasm exerted on stage that night. The Arts department puts in a lot of work, and it definitely showed that night.
