A Plan to End Inequality

Inequality is a huge problem in our society, caused by people judging others by their appearance and believing stereotypes that are not true.

Inequality leads to people not being treated fairly. Today, we judge people way too much based on their religion, gender, race, beliefs and appearance, which is really not acceptable.

We should be judging people based  on how they are on the inside. The way someone is born should not negatively affect the rest of their life. If we don’t get people to start thinking differently, our world is worse for everyone.

One of the biggest inequalities relates to how women are treated.  From the beginning of history, women were treated a lot worse than men. They were not able to go to school, own land or vote. Now, women can do all of those things, but many get paid less than men for doing the same jobs.

Another example of an inequality is racism,. There are many incidents where young, unarmed black men are killed by police officers who make wrong assumptions about them. It is so obviously wrong for anyone to think that white people are superior and get to live by different rules.

As a student, I want to be a part of fixing these problems to improve our society. I would like to develop educational programs for kids that really stress kindness and connecting with people who are different than you.

If children learn to be kind just as much as they learn reading and writing, they will become role models for the adults around them. Kids, before they learn otherwise, want to be friends with everyone and do not care about anyone’s skin color or what holidays they celebrate. If we teach these values at a young age and continue throughout a child’s education, there will be less inequality in the world.
